Zee Theatre’s latest teleplay, Peechha Karti Parchhaiyaan, explores the theme Haunted by secrets, bound by love.” Adapted by the renowned Ila Arun from Henrik Ibsen’s classic play “Ghosts,” this production is directed for the stage by K K Raina, who also stars in it. The teleplay, which will be dubbed into Telugu and Kannada, is set in Rajasthan and delves into the social and gender issues highlighted in Ibsen’s original work. It tells the story of Yashodhara, a conflicted matriarch, portrayed by Ila Arun, who struggles to protect her family’s dark secrets at great personal cost. Alongside Arun and Raina, the cast includes Param Singh, Priyamvada Kant, and Vijay Kashyap.
Directed by Saurabh Shrivastava for filming, the teleplay also reflects on how unresolved generational issues continue to affect the present. Originally staged in 2016, the play has been successfully performed across India.
