Ahmedabad Police Uncover ₹1.6 Crore Counterfeit Scheme Inspired by Farzi

Anupam Kher found himself in an unexpected situation when the Ahmedabad police uncovered fake currency amounting to Rs 1.6 crore in Rs 500 denominations. The news spread rapidly across social media platforms. Reacting to the incident, Kher humorously said, “YEH HO SAKTA HAI…. TOH KUCH BHI HOSAKTA HAI!” Memes based on the incident have also started circulating online.
Commissioner of Police Rajdeep Nukum, this counterfeit operation was inspired by Shahid Kapoor’s web series ‘Farzi.’ Mehul Thakkar, a bullion firm owner from Ahmedabad was cheated, when out of Rs 1.6 crores, Rs 1.3 crore were fake currency notes featuring Anupam Kher’s image instead of Mahatma Gandhi’s. The scam came to notice when Mehul Thakkar’s employee was given a plastic bag with fake currency in cash in exchange for 2,100 grams of gold. The scammers had set up a fake courier service. The investigations are ongoing, and no arrests have been made so far.
